Nobu studied veterinary nursing in Japan then worked 12 years at several small animal general practices and emergency hospitals in Australia and Japan. In 2008, he moved to Kurashiki University Science and the Arts in Japan as the first veterinary nurse faculty member lecturing in a degree course in Japan. He is currently Associate Professor at this university. He is also Director committee member of the Japanese Society of Veterinary Nursing and the Society for the Study of Human Animal Relations. He was involved in the establishment of the Japanese Veterinary Nursing Association and served as a Director. He has lectured at conferences in Japan, Philippines, Australia (VNCA) and Hong Kong. He holds a PhD on the topic of animal handling and restraint. He both authored and translated book chapters in a number of Japanese publications.
